There are many great things which you can go to this summer in Dorset, it all depends on individual taste. There is a everything from high cuisine to a festival of tanks. This is my top 5 for you to consider.

  1. Tankfest 24th-25th June

The world’s biggest and best live display of historic armoured tanks. With British army displays, historic parades and vehicle rides. Taking place at the Bovington tank museum.

  1. The Dorset seafood festival 8th-9th July

This is the UK’s largest seafood festival featuring over 100 stalls with fresh seafood dishes and Celebrity chef exhibitions – all based around the Weymouth Harbourside.

  1. The Great Dorset Chilli festival 5th – 6th August

 This is a festival of all things chilli, from pepper plants to cayenne condiments; seeds to ceramics; plus cooking demonstrations; talks on growing chillies; artisan food producers; music; spicy street food; local ice creams to cool the mouth; local beers to slake the thirst.

The event takes place at the beautiful St Giles house in Wimborne St. Giles.

  1. The Great Dorset Steam fair 24th– 28th August

The show has something for everyone, If you are a collector, or just a steam fanatic

The Great Dorset Steam fair offers a unique blend of nostalgia and entertainment. There is no other event like it anywhere in the world which is why over 200,000 visitors attend each year both from the UK and from all over the World! The event takes place in the village of Tarrant Hinton near Blandford Forum.

  1. The Dorset County Show 2nd – 3rd September

 This annual event is very much a celebration of the Dorset rural community and takes place just outside Dorchester near Kingston Maurward College.

The show features over 450 trade stands and a fantastic array of attractions and last year the two day show attracted over 60,000 people.
