Jurassic Coast Independent Walking Holiday

Our full Jurassic Coast trail (from Charmouth to Corfe Castle) is around 67 miles (108 km) in length. Taken as a whole, it is an 8 night holiday - 6 days walking, with one rest day in the middle. It can also be arranged as a short break of 4 nights - 3 days walking, either from Charmouth to Lulworth Cove (1st half) or from Lulworth Cove to Corfe Castle via Studland (2nd half).

The average daily walking distance is about 11 miles, although you can arrange to do less than this distance each day, since our vehicle can pick you up at any pre-designated point where a road meets the trail. Due to this flexible formula, our self-guided Jurassic Coast walking holiday is ideal for families with children.

About the walk

This holiday can be arranged on a bespoke basis for small groups of 2 to 6 people.

Our Jurassic Coast trail is full of variety, combining a spectacular coastal landscape of cliffs, caves, grassy ridges and stunning beaches with the beautiful, rolling countryside of the rural hinterland.

In terms of walking difficulty, we classify it as moderate, since it has some easy stretches, punctuated by a number of climbs and descents of varying gradients, some rather challenging and in quick succession. There are miles and miles of dramatic coastline, mostly with no road or habitation between you and the sea. Indeed, the only way to see most of it is on foot.

The Jurassic Coast achieved its Natural World Heritage Site status in 2001 due to its geological importance and outstanding beauty. For much of the way, our trail follows the stunning South West Coast Path. We have also added a few inland loops, so that you can visit some picturesque villages and stop for lunch or refreshments in a traditional pub or tea-shop.

Accommodation and services

If you do the full trail, you will normally be accommodated in one place for the first 4 nights and then be transferred to different accommodation close to the second half of the trail for the last 4 nights. We will pick you up each morning and take you to the trail, and then drive you back to your hotel, inn or B&B in the late afternoon.

We will give you our written detailed and informative Jurassic Coast Trail Guide, and also the relevant ordnance survey maps, with the trail highlighted.

Thanks so much for all your help and hospitality. Both Jack [age 7] and I really loved the walk, and Jack was very proud that he had a certificate to prove that he walked 11 miles. ”
